Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long is a Utah pesticide license valid?

Licenses expire on December 31 each year and must be renewed annually.

  • Can I earn all my credits online?

No. UDAF limits online training to 50% of your total requirement (12 hours for Commercial). The other 12 hours must be earned at live, in-person workshops.

  • What happens if I miss the December 31st deadline?

You can still renew through February 28th, but you must pay a $25 late fee. After February 28th, you are legally required to re-test for all categories.

  • Does Utah offer reciprocity?

Yes. Utah reciprocates with most states, the DOD, and the BLM. You must provide a Letter of Good Standing from your home state and pay the $65.00 fee.

  • Does my business need its own license?

Yes. Any business applying pesticides for hire must have a Commercial Pesticide Business License. Each physical location must also have at least one applicator certified in every category the business offers.

  • How many CEUs are required for commercial applicators?

24 CEUs per renewal cycle, including required Law, Safety, and Use credits.

  • Can I transfer my out-of-state pesticide license to Utah?

Yes. Utah accepts reciprocity with a Letter of Good Standing, identification, fees, and any required federal credentials.
